I don't understand why unit ** is giving the flu mist at school, kids who can't be around it have to be absent for a few days and those kids miss work.

"Kindergarten and South Side gave the flu mist two weeks ago and Friday they are giving them at Central for $10. Kids with a low immune system is not to be around this and also kids with asthma. I just don't understand why the school's nee...d to get involved in this it is not mandatory.

Is it true that those that have already had swine flu (last year) should not get the shot?

Only if one wants to take the chance of getting this year strain of flu. Having had the flu last year or getting the flu vaccine last year does nothing to protect you from this years possible strains.

Administering Flumist to infants, the elderly and other high-risk individuals (those with immune system disorders, chronic diseases, etc.) is contraindicated. However, the list individuals who must avoid casual contact with people vaccinated with Flumist is very short, indeed.

Note question #3.

If a child is well enough to attend school (despite asthma, immune suppression or chronic disease), s/he is NOT at risk from classmates or teachers who have received Flumist.
