Hello!

Anyone going to be joining me in Monmouth this Fall for OHSU?? I haven't heard of anyone planning on going there except myself and I was trying to see if anyone was out there, but just hadn't spoken up.

Good luck to everyone on the alternate list, my fingers are crossed for you!

:)

Thanks!! I am on the alternate list for Monmouth....so hopefully the lack of replies on here means I have a good chance! Congratulations on getting right into the program! :) Did you apply to many other places or did you count on getting into OHSU?

Hoping to join you this fall!!

I hope so too!! I did apply to 5 other schools (this was my fourth round of applications!) and got into OHSU-Monmouth, wait listed for U of P (like 68th on the list) & rejected from 4 others (OHSU-ABSN, Linfield ABSN, U of CO Denver ABSN & Chemeketa). All I needed was one yes, and thankfully I got it! I really hope you get in too!! :)

Wow you really stuck it out! Congratulations again!! I'm not going to put to much hope into OHSU at this point. I'm already planning next years applications. I also applied to UofP(109th on the waitlist). I'm not too discouraged though since this is only my first year applying. Another year of experience won't be a bad thing. But going to OHSU this fall would be awesome!!! But Im also 7th on the waitlist for Boise States program so that's also a possibility....

Are you saying that you have been applying a nursing school four years?

It looks like I do not have any chance next year at either, but I don't want to wait for another five years just to get in to a school.

Why do you already know you have no chance next year?

I have A only in 231, and I will not have time to take two A&P by next winter. I need some rest from A&P.

If you are applying to the community colleges if you take 232 in the fall and 233 in the winter some may allow you to turn in trancripts for in progress courses. Keep your head up!

Unfortunately, yes. But it was over a period of 6 years that I applied 4 times. If I had applied back-to-back years, had finished all my pre-reqs, not gone back to school to get a BS in Community Health & Health Sciences and had "life" happen it wouldn't have probably taken me that long. Don't let my weird experience discourage you.

As I learned, have a great GPA, get some experience either through CNA work or volunteering, and keeping working on your application to make yourself more appealing (ie: retake classes, volunteer, work in a hospital/clinical setting, travel abroad (especially Spanish speaking countries) or take foreign language classes, finish all the pre-reqs, take more science/health classes to show your interest).

Persistence will get you there eventually & since this has been a dream of mine since childhood, I figured I would keep trying until someone accepted me. I learned how to eliminate time limits and to keep trying until I got in...and to be honest, it's all worth it in the end.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!!

To all of you waiting for next years round of applications, hang in there. For those of you wanting to get into Chemeketa for nursing, relax. I made sure that I got all A's and didn't get accepted there, didn't even make the waiting list. However, a friend of mine made it it and she only got B's and not a single A. Here's my advice: As best as I can figure, starting out they give everyone the same amount of points for B's and A's. Next, I think they give points for the essay. All this happens before they even give the extra points for the A in 231. I was told ahead of time to make sure to follow ALL the directions given for the essay. Do exactly as they say, not MORE or LESS. I know for a fact that I didn't follow them all. For every direction that you don't follow to the letter, they dock points. Hope this helps!

I'll see you Sept 20th! Yeah, I was surprized when the pre-nursing counselor at OSU said they thought no one got in, and that they were surprized to hear I had. I work at Good Samaritan in Corvallis (ICU) and there's one other CNA here that's going too. We're looking forward to getting started. There sure are a lot of hoops though...sheesh!

Hi I see that this is a little old, but I just got in to OHSU - Monmouth and I was curious what anyone that about the program! Thanks for any comments.
