Chem and Statistics I

Have you guys taken these classes online at any college of OR? How was the class? Would recomand taking it online?

If I have to take these classes at PCC, are there any good teachers and tutors?

Specializes in LTC, ALF.

THANK YOU for asking this question! I was wondering the same thing! I actually registered for Chemistry online and thought it might be a lot of work, because you have to buy the labs and do them at home so I dropped it in hopes of finding more information before I started the class...I have heard statistics is pretty easy in class so I imagine it would be fairly easy online.

I took stats online at Clackamas and the only really difficult part was that we had to "work in groups" in an online class. None of my group members usually showed up in the forum until the day the homework was due so I got in the habit of surfing other groups' forums if I couldn't figure something out and just completing and submitting the homework.

Stats isn't hard - It is just not very exciting and there is a lot of reading....that is also not very exciting.. and unlike many other online classes Stats had proctored mid-term and final that really took the full 2 hours.

Hope that helps.

Take Stats live with Nancy Roper. She explains it all so well, and you will really learn it from her.

I took stats with Muzos and I have to have math explained step by step. I got an A in the class. The test questions looked exactly (not the same problems though) like the steps she taught us, so there wasn't any tricking or confusion. Loved her.

I took Chem online recently and I loved it! Holmes and Handy at PCC.

Specializes in None yet.

I took both inorganic and biochem in a classroom because the BSN program I was looking at needed them to be lab classes. Is the chem an online lecture and an oncampus lab? That would be a cool way to take science courses and still be able to spend time with family or work.

I took stats online at a different school, it was tough because I last took a math class 5 years ago. Still there are some really good resources through online classes that oncampus classes dont always have. If your class has an option to buy a subscription to Course compass get it. I think Course compass is the only reason I got an A instead of a B!

Good luck

What is a Course compass? Can I buy it even my school does not have subscription to it ? Is that like a video lectures?

I have taken MTH 111B with her and I was really bored in her class. I was not able to follow what she teaching? I got A b/c it was not difficult class and I could study on my own, but Stats. I do not even know how to study for it. If I take Muzos, I might to be able to understand her. Maybe I can find a tutor and jsut take it with her.
