What do you carry in your pockets?

I read a similar thread in another forum. (First year nursing)

Just wanted to see what OR nurses are carrying in their pockets to get you through the case or day.

All I carry is a pen. Maybe my little calendar if I need to change a shift. Sometimes if I'm in charge I carry the master key.

Scissors are everywhere. The slate is posted on the wall in every room. All numbers that we could ever need to call (except for take-out) are on the wall beside the phone. All staff names and glove sizes are posted in every room. The surgeons pref card is computer generated and comes with the equipment. Tape is everywhere and alcohol swabs are within arms reach of the pt in every room.

I hate packing my pockets with supplies. When I was a ward nurse I had bulging pockets because I wanted to save myself steps. In the OR everything I need is handy.

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Scissors, suction connector, straight clamp, 2 pairs of gloves, access badge, 2 inch tape, 2 pens, 1 permanent marker.
