Nursing in Abilene Texas

Specialties Operating Room

Published

Hi there! I just want to enquire if anyone here has any idea about OR nursing in Abilene Texas? My family and I are relocating from London. I have 8 years experience in the operating room here in UK and I have already endorsed my NY license with TexasBON. I just want to know how much is the hourly rate for a nurse with experience, what is the shifts patterns like? Coz here in UK, we have operating rooms (theatres) running 24 hours so we have night shifts instead of calls? And we dont have scrub techs and there are usually 2 RN's and 1 healthcare assistant in 1 theatre list or OR. So I want to know what the set up like in there? Thanks a lot for any info guys!

The setup of each facility is probably going to differ. My area relies heavily on surgical technologists in the scrub role, while some of the facilities in neighboring counties are primarily RN in both scrub and circulator role. Call vs. 24 hour staffing will also vary. My facility is a level 2 trauma center, and while we are staffed 24/7, the call team must come in whenever a case is running on third shift so that a team is free at all times for traumas and emergencies. As for salary, you may want to post those questions in the Texas forum for more specific answers- salary varies a lot depending on location and cost of living.
