My wife had gastric bypass surgery about 2.5 yr ago, lost a LOT of weight and had a big abdominoplasty and brachioplasties to get rid of the floppies about 3 weeks ago. They took her JP drains out a week or so ago, but she started accumulating fluid again, so they put in a pigtail attached to another "hand grenade".

With her post-op abdominal pain, sexual relations had been at a standstill. However, yesterday we were lying around and one thing led to another and before we knew it, we were "involved". It was a welcome relief after a long dry spell. Then she looked down at her drain bulb and started roaring with laughter. The bulb, which she had drained only a short time before, was FULL. I guess we mobilized some fluids there...:yeah:. I'm thinking that as her loving husband, it'll be my duty to continue to aid in her recovery...:D

wow! good for you - both! i bet that's a "therapeutic maneuver" that no doctor is ever going to recommend - but what the heck? if it works for the two of you - you go!! rock on! :yeah:

By the way, just curious...was the bypass covered by your insurance co.?

The bypass was entirely covered since she had co-morbidities, family Hx of Diabetes, heart disease. The abdominoplasty was covered due to back pain and skin rash: her surgeon "threw in" the actual tummy tuck so his residents would get a better case, and he gave us a great cash price on the brachioplasties since he'd be in the OR anyway.

Congrats to you both. I had my RNY 3 years ago and had my TT this past Jan. I hope her recovery will be as uneventful as mine.

Update-- my wife had an appt with her plastic surgeon today and she told him about our unusual method of mobilizing her fluids.... He said "Terrific, I'll write you a prescription: 1x TID or PRN"
