Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Has anyone applied for these schools for Spring 2014? I've been looking for recent threads, but haven't found any so I decided to start one :) It's a tough road to RN, so maybe we can all go through this together!

Also, anyone know how Rio Hondo point system works? There's nothing on their website that says how they add up points. Just wondering where I stand.

Ohoh, and I also applied to Pasadena City as well as Cypress College, but there are already threads for those. But we can talk about them here as well :)

Hi ladies regarding Rio! I called yesterday and asked when notification will be sent and the lady said letters will be sent out, no phone calls. I had her clarify it twice that if we get in, we get a letter being mailed to us and received by the middle off next week. I also asked if they called people. If no notification is sent to you by November 15, call then. So please keep hope and positive vibes. Congrats to other schools acceptance! Stay solid.

Has anyone else heard back from Pasadena?

Wow thank you Colombiancook9! This is great news- you are absolutely right- positives vibes!

Good luck to everyone :)

To everyone who applied to Rio Hondo... If you do not initially get in, don't lose hope! I was not accepted initially but as people denied their spot, I was given a spot last minute. I had to take my TEAS and only had two days of studying time! Luckily I was able to get an 83. So my advice would be to study for the TEAS if you haven't already because they may surprise you! I was not even on the provisional list. If you get a rejection letter, ask where you are at on the list and if you are high up enough, I would suggest studying for the TEAS. I am currently in the program and love it so far.

Do you mind telling me what your stats were? I am so anxious I can hardly wait! Also were you put on the waiting list or denied over all?

Thank you so much and very proud of you on getting in :)

My stats were just ok. Science GPA was 3.7 but overall was low 2.7 (wasn't focused while getting my Bachelors). I did have health care experience, a year of Spanish in college and as already mentioned a Bachelors degree. I forget what else they give you points for. Rio has what is called a provisional list (sort of like a wait list). I got denied overall and was moved up to provisional and then finally in the program. It has been great so far. We have clinicals at Kaiser Baldwin Park, Kaiser Downey, PIH, Arcadia Methodist, Beverly, Whittier, Queen of the Valley, and White Memorial. Good luck!!

I called this morning, they said they'd send more out next week. I'm assuming they sent the first wave of acceptances this week, and as teas results come in, they'll sent more out next week!
