Online RN to BSN while living in Tennessee

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I am currently in an ADN program in California right now, but I am planning to move to Tennessee after I graduate from my program in May of 2018. I am trying to find online RN to BSN programs that I can attend while living in Tennessee. I have been looking into Tennessee State University's online RN to BSN program but I saw that you have to start in Summer. I am just worried that if I do not take my NCLEX until late June or July (since I won't graduate until the end of May), that it will be too late for me to start their summer program next May. If anyone has any information on that program I would appreciate it so much!!!

Also, please send some advice over about ANY online RN to BSN program that you would recommend that I could attend while living in Tennessee. I am having such a hard time trying to figure this out, I could use all the help I can get!

I will be in Tennessee for basically the whole month of June this year, so if I needed to go check out a school or talk to any of the advisors in person I would be able to do that.

Please let me know of anything that may help me in this search!! Thank you all in advance!!!!

I see that you have your DNP, that is my goal as well! I have heard that many DNP programs don't accept students who graduated from since they do not give an actual grade, do you know if that is true?

Hi JCon! Welcome to the profession of nursing! There are so many different career paths you can choose as an RN - it's an exciting, and ever-changing profession. And, congrats on your move to the beautiful state of Tennessee!

First, I want to disclose to you that I am the program director for the RN-to-BSN program at Aspen University. But I work here for a reason, and that's because I truly believe in what we are doing for our students. It is our mission to remove as many barriers as possible for all students to be able to return to college to further their education in order to improve their lives and that of their families. The TN State Board of Nursing takes a real interest in the education of their nurses. Our online program is one of the ones that they have approved for TN RN's. We remove barriers by giving you options. We have start dates every other Tuesday, and there is a monthly payment option (without interest) that eliminates the need for student loans. All classes are online and asynchronous. That having been said, the classes are still quite rigorous, so expect to put effort into the program. Assignments and discussions are required each week, but we provide support to assist with scholarly writing, APA format, and the other assignment types (PowerPoint presentations, etc.). If you want more information, please feel free to check us out at http://www.aspen.edu or you can email me directly at [email protected].

I attend Arkansas State University's (ASU) RN-BSN online program and live in TN. I think the only pre-req for them is that you've worked as an RN for at least a year before you apply but don't hold me to that. I haven't had to go on campus yet for the program.

First of all, congrats!

I posted a similar question earlier this year and MeanMaryJean along with other users here actually referred me to . I'm set to start the RN-BSN program later in summer and so far, looks legit. The program mentor assigned to me is so kind and has answered all my questions. It is a 100% online program and has a "set rate" for tuition, instead of dollar per credit/course.

Basically, you pay a little over $3500 for 6mo (1 Term). In those 6mo you have to complete at least 12 credit hours (about 3-4 courses), you can add more courses if you'd like as long as you can complete them before the term is over. PM if you have questions and I'll be happy to answer them. I looked into Aspen Univ at first because my whole goal is finding a program that's cheap and be able to complete in a year or less but they're not regionally accredited which is what made me look into WGU- they're fully accredited.

Good luck searching.
