Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam

Nursing Students School Programs

Has anyone taken the Kaplan nursing entrance exam? I previously took the net, and applied to the nursing program at Baker for entrance into the program for the fall. Unfortunately, I did not make the cut. I now have to take the Kaplan nursing entrance exam. I bought the Kaplan study guide; I have the barons, as well as the evolve, (for the HESI). With the net the composite score was based on math and reading comp only, a few science and no chemistry. This new Kaplan makes the net seem like a kindergarten entrance test. I can't seem to find any websites or threads specifically on what the Kaplan test actually is about, how it is scored, or any information pertaining to just the Kaplan test. Can anyone help? I will be taking this test in early October. Any information will be appreciated. :yeah:

So I took this horrific test yesterday and got a 78. I wont know if it's good enough until July. All I have to say is WOW! I think I did my best, but I'm not happy with my score. I have been studying for two months and I was shocked at the physiology portion of the test. Science was mostly what I studied and I got 12/20 right which gave me a 60 in that section. I knew every part of every system and how it worked. These questions were so broad I was shocked. The Reading and math were fine but the writing portion was very confusing. My advice to anyone who has to take it, is to study to the best that you can and beleive in yourself. There's only so much you can do. No, I'm not happy with my score and it's going to drive me crazy to have to wait to know if I got in. But I did the best that I can do and that's the only thing that matters. Thanks EVERYONE for the advice it really was a big help.

I got an 80! overall points 25.89

Just a note to all those who have taken the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Test and are waiting for your letters in regards to acceptance into the Nursing Program of your choice......always have a plan B.....when I heard others talk of this....I was thinking, plan B.....what? I've committed to this particular institution; academically and financially..plan B...NOT IN THE PLAN. Unfortunately for me the first time applying my total over-all points were not enough......and so I wait until the next round.....the second time around after taking the Kaplan, and re-applying to the ADN program I was #52 out of 45 accepted into the program, the only difference was I had a PLAN B. I am starting Nursing school (ADN) program at a college where I feel at home, and am ecstatic and blessed to begin in August of this year.:nurse:: So you can sit around and WAIT and HOPE while doing your best to get in, or sit around and WAIT and HOPE while doing your best with a PLAN B included! What is meant to be (as the saying goes) might not be the blessing that you had your sights set upon.... in reality... IS THE BLESSING you didn't even see! For me, plan B was just what I was praying for! (I did not know this at that time) GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE, and always have a PLAN B:thankya:

Plan B is fine but let's talk numbers what were your numbers if you had a 3.97 and 80 off Kaplan no retake, all points for no transfers beyond 8 credits, I got almost 26 points going? The last cycle the cut off was 25.4 I was told by the dean you have a good chance at getting in. So where did you fall?

I got an 80! overall points 25.89

Great job!! Took mine yesterday too, got an 82. So my points are sittnig at 25.92. So hopefully everything works out. From what the dean said yesterday I should feel comfortable. But you never know, I have read some horror stories on here. I did talk with a couple of other ladies that were retaking the kaplan yesterday and reapplying to the program and it seemed like there were quite a few people reapplying. I know that extra point for reapplying makes the difference for a lot of people.

I couldn't believe though that with having the final Kaplan tests last night they were going to try and get letters out by August 1st. That just seems so far away.

I don't know what to think because so many folks may have done well if I knew the average that would give people a good idea. Where is the cut off this time? I imagine they know a lot more than they tell us even before the tests, then after they certainly know, I was told I have a good shot at being in but until we know where everyone sits no idea, a lot of students took the test yesterday of the two dates only 8 tested on the 11th.

She said latest August 1st but for those that do get in we will need to do things after that such as CPR certification and other steps, so those students need to know where they are before that point. I also don't believe everyone that says they got this or that score or number of points because I asked Bonnie what her story was the poster above and she didn't say. I talked to actual nursing students on campus every chance I got, I was told don't believe those folks that did not EVER get in that they had 3.9's and 80+ Kaplans and still did not get in I spoke with a girl that was in the program and she said she had a 3.7 and got in. With it being a competition I don't expect people to be honest

Did the Dean tell you where folks were sitting average? I mean so many people took the test last minute they must have a lot to go over now. I did hear one girl left crying, another lady I knew was really bright but she told me she got a 78, which I am not sure I believe that either.

You are absolutly right about people not being honest about getting what they say they got. I talked to a few people before the test last night, but after we were handed our test paper with our info on it and it seemed like several people that I expected to have a higher point total going in, looked a little light on the points if you know what I mean. But who knows how they did on the test. I guess we'll just wait and see. I hate this part. I do wonder though if the dean told people last summer that it would be around August 1st, I was sure I read a couple posts that said they got their letters like the 21st of July or so.

I think you did really well and Im happy for you. We had pharm together, although I can't match a face to your name you can figure out who I am...Im Black and a guy....narrowing that down shouldn't be hard. :D I was told the chances even at my points are pretty good, but I did well in my courses and it sounds like you did too. I can't speak for everyone I don't know I do know some people who repeated the hard stuff, I am not saying it was a boat load because honestly that is not my concern nor business. I just know when folks stop showing up to class 6 weeks in that kinda tells ya right there. I am beginning to believe people did not do as well overall as you might think, because even if I don't or you don't make the cut this time with the extra point on the next round you're looking at what almost 27 points?

One last thing I noticed you just joined the board in June, I have been all over these boards for months, and searching emailing anyone and everyone about the Kaplan, If you did well in your classes and you had a good Kaplan score and it sounds like you did, you should get in. The only real concern is reapps who are they? How many? It seems as if good grades and high Kaplans go hand in hand, if students did not do well with the GPA they don't become geniuses all of a sudden on the Kaplan. So relax let it out of your mind, as Lois would say BREATHE....I also kinda think they want to see us sweat it out a little see how we handle the stress, but honestly with computer programming and already having added our point totals up before the Kaplan they know should know within a day or so if they entered the totals pre-Kaplan how and where people are post Kaplan this process should not take a genius to figure out. I really believe they are not telling us the entire story of the selection process, they swear it's all numbers and such but I tend to believe it's a tad more to it.
