FNP drop out needs advice

Students School Programs

Published

I've been an RN for 8 years. I started MSN program but I dropped out due to ill health. My transcript is dotted with F's. I want to go back for an online program. A co-worker advised that I keep quiet on the attempted classes. Mark you, I already cleared 12 credits with some A's.

Please advise.

A lot of schools ask if you're transferring from another program or have applied to programs before and they will ask you to send transcripts from the colleges you've attended. Also, lying about your grades is not going fly. I had an academic counselor for nursing tell me about a story about RNs that had forged their transcripts to get into a RN program and then they got caught years later when they were already practicing as RNs and got their licenses revoked. Honesty is part of the profession of nursing. You don't want to risk anything. If you're worried about the bad grades, you can always explain it was because of your health and how that affected it. Hope this helps!

And also don't you want credit for the classes you did well in too?

when you apply you can include the rationale as to why your grades were low later on in your attempt, and you can also clarify this if the enrollment advisior is willing to listen, try to get strong recommendations and have someone give you feedback on your personal essay
