Hi! I'm a new nurse and I have taken a job in the outpt cancer clinic in a local hospital. I have been working there since last summer as a Nurse Tech. I absolutely love it! My coworkers are awesome and have been very helpful, but all the protocols, etc are very confusing and hard to keep track of... I am taking the two day chemotherapy/biotherapy course in sept. but I was hoping someone could tell me some books or online sites that they have found very useful... Or any words of advice for dealing with cancer pts/families would also be useful! I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Glad you love oncology. I hope you plan to make it your career choice, I have been an ONC nurse for the last 20 years. Have your co-workers referred you to the Oncology Nursing Society Website? (http://www.ons.org) There is a section for nurses and you can access educational programs online. Some of the courses are free. There is a link to OES and educational service where you can obtain monographs of current protocols and patient management.

Also, you can look into your local ONS chapter for resources.

Another site is Cancersource.

Hope this helps.
