I'm a new grad and just got a call for a new grad interview in oncology! :-) Although I have felt drawn to the cancer pts that I have worked with and been able to offer them good nursing and emotional care, I have very little experience with oncology nursing. What are some ways I can prepare for the interview? What are some areas I should be most familiar with? I heard they ask you some specific questions about the dept you are interviewing for. Thanks!

I just went through a new grad interview for an oncology position. I have heard that some places ask specific department questions - but mine was more of a character interview. they asked questions like name a time when i had to confront a coworker and how i dealt with it, how i deal with stress, and a time when i had to advocate for a patient - nothing was specific to oncology.

best advice: be prepared for all types of questions, think positively, and most importantly, relax. my interviewer mentioned that i didnt seem nervous at all (which was totally not what i was thinking in my head!). i think that showed her that i know how to handle stressful situations and also that i come prepared. also, i went into the interview thinking "this job is mine to lose." - which motivated me even more to prepare/practice.

good luck!!!
