Hello everyone!!! I am currently taking my prerequisites for Nursing at Swosu in weatherford, and I was planing on applying at western Oklahoma state college, Elk city campus, for an associate degree. I need advices about associate degree in Oklahoma, if I finish it and I want to continue with my BSN right after graduation, Do I need to write the NCLEX, before applying for the BSN program? Thank you for helping me..

You would be wise to take NCLEX immediately after graduating the associate degree program due to well-cited statistics. Your chances of passing NCLEX are approximately 85 percent if you take the test within two month of graduation, so do not wait.

Okay, thank you for the reply, really appreciate it!! I was also thinking about applying to Langston university, so that I could finish my last prerequesites there and apply for their nursing program also, to get the BSN. I am just kind of confused between getting an associate degree or a Bachelor.

The BSN degree might not result in much (if any) of a pay difference in the beginning of your career, but it will open up opportunities that are often closed to ASN degree holders.

I see!!! Please Do you have an idea on the job market for ADN in Oklahoma? Because I read somewhere on this site that some states have a huge preference on BSN graduated than ADN. What do you think about oklahoma? Can I get hired with my ADN? What if I don't have the NCLEX yet and I want to bridge to my BSN before writing the NCLEX.

You should be fine with an ASN degree if you plan to stay in Oklahoma.

Most RN-to-BSN programs require that you already be a licensed RN by the time you enroll in your first BSN course, e.g. you need to have already passed NCLEX.

thank you so much, I do appreciate your advices, I will definitely take the associate Road first and do the BSN once I get my NCLEX.
