OU Tulsa BSN TCC Collaborative Program

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

I was just accepted into the OU BSN TCC Collaborative program for Fall '08 (where you take your junior level classes at TCC then transfer to OU for your senior year). I was more nervous than I can tell you about getting in because I heard such grim probabilities, people constantly getting rejected year after year, etc. So, a LOT of weight off my chest!:D

I'm posting to see if anyone has ever gone through the TCC Collaborative program from OU and if you have any advice, helpful tips, books, anything that could help. I'm not looking for a handout but if you've got any advice I'd definitely be grateful :):bowingpur

I see, well how about I give you some money and you copy that CD LOL. No I know what you mean, the search feature is your best friend when it comes to finding info. I understand the whole "Weeding out" time, I went to the oklahoma school of science and math in OKC for high school and it was pretty much the same way, I'm looking forward to being challenged, I've been waiting to get in and need to keep myself busy otherwise I make myself miserable! It'll be hard and sometimes I'll wanna kick someone I'm sure but I really do appreciate ALL the info. If there is anything helpful you'd like to tell me that you don't want to post just message me :)

Also, we do still have to have our OU scrubs on and stuff at TCC? Just wondering..I dirty clothes like a MAD lady and will need about 4 pair. And can you not just go buy regular crimson scrubs? $45 is a rip...lol.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to the board yet, but I don't see those students until this Monday. SORRY!!!!!

The scrubs were another area of confusion lol, but basically you can go buy the ones from OU OR wear the TCC/OU CBSN scrubs...I think TCC wanted us to wear the CBSN logo but it wasn't enforced since there was SO much confusion and people ended up just buying the OU scrubs since that's what you will be wearing your sr. year so they saved themselves money...

and yea, it has to be from the school, its a "special crimson" with the embroid. but you only wear them during clinicals or if you are using the labs at SE (but even then you can just wear any kind of scrubs not the school ones).

Hey!

I am graduating in 10, almost 9 days from OU-Tulsa with my BSN!!!! Yea

All I can say is once you switch over to OU prepare yourself!! It is hard and the professors are tough, they flunk nurses right and left. When I took Acute and Chronic Health care my Junior year, the average grade was an 80%. You have to make at least 75%, I missed it by 7/10 of a point and they made me repeat it! Good luck!:nurse:

Yeah I heard there are some real sticklers there, but let me ask you this, do you feel ready to be a working RN after graduating from OU? Did you work while in the program as an LPN or have you just basically waited until now...how does the preceptorship thing work and where do you think you're going to be working? Thanks for all your help.

So are all the books beneficial for reference after graduation or are you paying $1k for two years worth of reference?

ha, I actually like Acute/Chronic...everybody is different however. :twocents:

OH AND CONGRATULATIONS!!! I KNOW THAT'S A BIG RELIEF...:yeah:

:yeah:

Congratulations on being accepted into the collaborative program! I am the president elect of the OU Student Nurse Association for 2008-2009 and if you have any questions or would like to meet with me or one of the collaborative representatives please send me a private message and I can work with you. We are excited to have you! Yes, things are disorganized at both campuses. The sooner you learn to be flexible the better... it's going to be like that when you work at the hospital and in life! Roll with the punches. It is frustrating but if you take it a week at a time you will do just fine. You will have 2 great representatives through OUSNA who will be available to help you with questions and/or problems and who will be great advocates for you. Again, please feel free to message me and I can share information with you and get you connected to the two representatives as well.

Best Wishes!

Sarah
