OSU/OKC Program

U.S.A. Oklahoma

I was wondering what classes those that graduated from this program had completed before getting accepted into the program.

I have all the pre-reqs+diet and nutrition therapy completed and I'll be taking Anatomy in the fall so I'm wondering if I have a good chance for spring 2010 accpetance. (I'll sill have chem, micro and physio to take for "related courses"). I have a 3.37 gpa right now but I suspect that will improve. Just not sure if that makes me quite competitive enough.

OSU/OKC goes on a point system. You are not required to have the classes you mentioned before you start the program. The only requirement on those is that you have to either have had chemistry or be taking it concurrent with 1st semester. I am in Chemistry now, will take Physiology this summer, and will take Micro next summer. If you don't have a problem filling your summers, you can go ahead and apply.

The point system is very basic and you will need in the high 70's to get in. A 3.5gpa is 30 points to give you an idea. They are not that hard to get. You will need to do well on the HESI and that should boost you high enough. HTH and good luck

Thanks. So I'm assuming you've been accepted into the program? Were you an LPN first? How is your chemistry class? Did you have trouble with the hesi test since you hadn't had chem, micro and physio?

I know! I have a lot of questions!

OCCC uses a point system that sounds similar to the one described above.

I guess all the extra classes aren't required to enter the program, but they help to raise your "points" and make you a more desirable candidate.

I'm having to take several of those "extra classes" too.

Hi there. I am in the same boat as you - finishing up my pre-reqs now, hoping to get into the program this fall or at least definitely by Spring 2010. I'm taking Chem right now and took Anatomy last fall. I'm hoping to take physio in the summer and then micro this fall if I don't get in. It's such a long journey!

I'm in Intro to Phsyc, Overview of Nursing, and a college success class right now. In the summer I hope to pick up 2 science classes and 1 easier sort of class. Tryin to move as quickly as practical while keeping my grades up.

I want to be able to enter the program in the spring or fall of 2010. This year just isn't going to be possible.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I am in my 1st semester right now and I am not an LPN. Chemistry is not fun for me as this is my 2nd time to take it and it is in the evening...URGH! I didn't really have trouble with the HESI because there are so many things on there. There is math, English, Grammer, etc. I did really well on the english and such that it helped me out on the science. I am really liking it so far but it is very different from the prereqs....Not really harder, just different. HTH

Hi! I'm taking Chemistry now on Monday and Wed. nights. Who do you have?

I have Ferguson. She is great but it really just doesnt interest me. Maybe one day I will be adult enough to just suck it up and do well in it!!!LOL

I hope to enter Spring 2010 as well. I have to take intro Algebra (in the summer) before I can take Chemistry. So I'll probably take Chem and Anatomy in the fall (sounds like murder, right?). I'm just sooo anxious!

I had a girl in my anatomy class take anatomy and chem in the same semester. It is hard but if you have a mind for science, its doable. I started out with Intro to algebra since it had been so long since I had taken any math. Good luck to you!!

Oooh I dunno about "having a mind for science" haha. I think it's just going to take a lot of sacrafice (ie abandon all social life, study like crazy and have zero fun for a semester). I found that I'm ridiculously bad at math. In high school, I would literally jump out of my desk and leave math class because I couldn't take how boring it was. I thought that now, being more mature, I could handle it and do well but I must say, I'm just plain bad at math.

We'll get through it, sister...however boring. Thanks for the tip on a good chem teacher.
