  1. Hi Brett! Good for you for going back to school! I too am married and have a son and recently made the decision to pursue nursing. I'm changing careers as well and it's not easy at first but I know you can do it. I'm currently at OSU OKC and there's a variety of ages and people of all different backgrounds in the classes, working, married and single parents. Night classes have been the best option for me and the 2 year program there seems to be set up in a way where you can get your RN and still have somewhat of a family and part-time career life. I'm thinking of getting my CNA to help me gain some experience in the field - they offer a 12 day course for you to get your certification. I also heard that once you complete the first two nursing semesters you can go ahead and take an LPN exam. The program at this school is 4 semesters and allow you to take the NCLEX but it's recommended that the pre-reqs be completed first. Anatomy was the hardest for me but I survived. Stay strong and be confident. You WILL get through it and while difficult at first, it will be very rewarding in the end. Let me know if I can be of any help. I'm currently taking Chemistry and it's no picnic but I'm hanging in there. Take care!
  2. Hi, did you end up taking your CNA course at OSU OKC? I am thinking of doing the same, to get some experience while going through nursing school. How did it go for you?
  3. Hello, Did you take the course at OSU OKC? I am planning on taking it in a few months. Can you tell me how it was?
  4. Hi there! Sorry I'm new to this site and may have asked you this question before on another thread - I'm still learning how this all works. How is the nursing program going for you? I'd really like details on the schedule and how clinicals work. I have a son so I need to think about childcare too. Just wanted to know everything..Thanks!
  5. Hi there! How is your nursing semester going? I am hoping to get in this year. Any feedback will be helpful. Are you able to balance a family/work life with classes? What is the schedule like? Is it very intense? How are clinicals?
  6. Hi! I'm taking Chemistry now on Monday and Wed. nights. Who do you have?
  7. Hi there. I am in the same boat as you - finishing up my pre-reqs now, hoping to get into the program this fall or at least definitely by Spring 2010. I'm taking Chem right now and took Anatomy last fall. I'm hoping to take physio in the summer and then micro this fall if I don't get in. It's such a long journey!
  8. How is your nursing program going? I am hoping to get in this fall. I'm also a mom. Is it hard to balance a family life with the nursing schedule?
  9. Hi there. I am at OSU-OKC too taking my pre-reqs. What are you taking now? How are your classes going?
  10. I've got a baby too and am changing careers. I'm currently a work from home/stay at home mom and I'm finishing up my prereqs now. How did you work everything out for you?
  11. Thanks so much. Have you already gotten into the program or are you currently taking classes in Oklahoma city? Also, is the thread you sent me the only one linked to OSU OKC? How did you find that?
  12. Has anyone taken the CNA course offered at OSU-OKC? They offer a 12 day course and I'd like some feedback. I'm changing careers and thought about pursuing my CNA certification before getting into nursing school to gain experience. Is this a good idea?
