Nursing School Advice

This might be very, very specific but I do need some nursing school advice. I currently have a associates degree in business and am now currently not attending school. I have changed my mind with my career path and want to pursue being an RN. It seems there are steps to get to RN like... CNA to LPN to RN/ADN, etc. Isn't there some schools that just have a ADN program? Skipping the CNA and LPN steps. Also, since I currently have an associates degree in business. If I wanted to get my bachelors degree in nursing, do I go straight for a BSN? Or do I need to get a ADN then BSN? Also, does anybody know of ADN schools in the OKC area? I'm generally looking for a private school. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The only private school in the OKC area that offers an associate degree in nursing is Platt College. However, Platt has a poor local reputation and you need to possess an LPN license in order to enroll in their associate degree nursing program.

ITT Technical Institute offered a private associate degree nursing program in OKC until a few weeks ago. If you watch the news, you would know that all of the ITT campuses in the U.S. have recently shut their doors for good.

OCCC (Oklahoma City Community College), OSU-OKC, and Rose State offer affordable associate degree nursing programs. Reputable BSN programs in the area include OU, OSU, OCU, OBU, Southern Nazarene, and a few others.

You do not need to be an LPN or CNA before becoming an RN...

Thank you! For the Colleges that you have listed with the BSN programs. Since I have a associates in business can I go straight for the BSN programs at these colleges or do they require I have a ADN?

None of the schools that offer BSN programs require you to have an ADN. However, no school will grant you admission into the nursing program without having first completed their prerequisite coursework sequence and entrance exams.

My suggestion is to visit each school's website and do some research to see what you need to do to get admitted to the various nursing programs. Even if a school grants you general admission, you will also need to take additional steps to be admitted into the school's nursing program.
