Langston or OU

Which is a better Nursing School? I was told Langston is in the top national nursing school. Is this true?

I haven't heard anything regarding either school being better or worse. You may want to give each school a call and see what their board pass rate is. What good is the degree if you can't pass NCLEX?

Are you talking about Langston in Langston, ok or Langston Tulsa? Langston Tulsa has a great program. The Langston in Langston, Ok doesn't have a great NCLEX pass rate.

Langston in Langston had a 71.43% pass rate in 2003 and Langston in Tulsa had a 76.92% in 2003. The first school only had 7 ppl take the boards in 2003 versus Langston Tulsa which had 26. Your call completely but I think I would go to OU versus either of the other schools. I am sure they have a higher pass rate than either of those schools too. :) Good Luck! ~twintoo

I've applied to Langston, but I hear that OU has a much higher pass rate on the NCLEX. I'm just starting out, but from what I've heard, OU's program is very hard to get into. I'm still keeping my hopes up for Langston though.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention, Langston at Tulsa, not Langston, Oklahoma.

This is a 5% difference in the pass rates of the NCLEX between the 2 schools, in favor of Tulsa.

At the moment, I'm very angry with Langston. This lady who examined my transcripts knew I wouldn't be accepted. I had 5 prereqs not met, apparently you need to have all the prereqs before you can apply. There were a few more other things, but I guess they were really counting on all the money they would make from app fees. They sure made a bundle this year! The apps fees may not be much for one person, but they are a lot of money for a person on a limited income!

She should have not lied to me. Disclosing information is the same as lying. They knew they were going to have enough students to fill all the spots. She should have told me to wait until I had all prereqs met. :angryfire

I did notice that OU had nearly a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. Close to it at least.

I'm just curious if Rogers State University in Claremore still has an ADN program. I've gone to their website and they list "pre-nursing", not an actual RN program. Does anyone know anything about this? I know they had a program at one time.

I don't know where you are, but if you're interested in a ADN program, have you considered OKCCC? Granted, it's been a few years back, but IIRC my class had around a 95% pass rate. Quite abit cheaper than OU too.

I had the last 2 Langston nursing classes have a 100% pass rate....They have made some new changes to the program. This isnt published yet, but this is what i heard. i have seen both langston and ou nursing students, and im impressed with the langston students. Its a very strict course, but i think nurses learn better in that environment.

looking at 2003 nclex OU was 86% - you can check nclex rates at the Ok BON website

last year OU/CON had over 600 applicants for 120 spots

they actually put 179 people on a wait list!?? crazy

the BSN program has become very ONLINE intensive- not as much classroom time

Tuition has gone UP

sorry if I'm ranting---after the application seminar at OU I was very disappointed and realized that alot of what you hear about the program is just talk and reputation.

BUT their programs thru Tulsa & Lawton are different and they both have high nclex rates---maybe look at those??
