Considering move to OK City area

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hello all,

So wife and I are considering move to OK City area relocating from Chicago Suburbs.

My question is what is the pay like for experienced ED nurses? What are the jobs out there, scarce, so-so, etc.

She'll be coming from a Level I trauma and is also FT charge.

I'm also with experience in ED as an RN, but will have a year experience in as a Nurse Practitioner in the ED.

Looks like the data I'm finding is a little old.

Any help would be appreciated on thoughts about relocating.

Tired of the snow/cold. I would be moving back (North Eastern area of state) after being away for 20 years, with family in North East part of state and in Texas.

Basically trying to get a approximation of what the pay is like.

You will not escape the snow and biting cold temperatures in OKC...I know it is not as cold as Chicago, but you'll contend with a decent amount of snow.

You did not mention how much experience your wife has. Since starting pay rates in OKC are in the $20 to $22/hr. range, someone with about five years of experience in the ED would probably earn in the mid to high $20s per hour.

Thanks for your reply,

The wife has 15 years of experience as an ED RN.

Definitely understand that there will still be snow and cold, but Chicago is on a different level more often than not.

Most of my friends that are RNs in Oklahoma are up in the North East corner, none of them really have an idea.

Thank you for your info
