BADNAP summer 2012

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Anyone else applying to BADNAP summer 2012 program?

I've heard that if you have a non-nursing BS degree, you can get an associate's degree in nursing and go straight to a Master's in nursing. Check with the OU adviser on this. What appeals to me about OCCC is that it seems to be geared towards people who are either commuting or have other obligations. You'll only have all day class 1-2 times a week then 2 12 hour clinical on the weekend. I've applied to both OU and OCCC as well, but I really think my best hope is with OCCC (knock on wood). My GPA is decent, but I don't think it is OU caliber based off of previous admission stats.

I eventually want to get my BSN as well, but I will really take either OU or OCCC at this point. The wait on both programs is killing me. If only 23 applications were taken by the 23rd, that is really good news I think. I wonder how many total applied. They accept 60....man I really hope we hear back soon (with good news of course).

Also, based on what I've heard and read we should hear back around the second to third week of March. Last year they heard back the week after Spring Break.

Thanks for all of the advice. I just wish I knew if I were admitted or not, and then this application/decision making process would be over. Hopefully we'll hear sooner than they did last year. I was told the letters went out late last year because the school was closed for 2 weeks. And if there are fewer applications it might make the decision process go fairly quickly. Time will tell I guess. Hopefully I will see some of you in class (whether at OU or OCCC) in June--best of luck to everyone!

I called OCCC today and they said they have 63 applicants and more than likely they will accept all 63 since not everyone will end up going or finishing! He also said certified letters are usually mailed out 6 weeks after the deadline. It's looking really great for everyone who applied for OCCC :-)

Wow. Thanks for the update.

That is awesome. I thought it was going to be Monday-Friday classes/clinicals. I never checked because dangit I'm going to nursing school no matter what, but I'm really glad to hear it. I was wondering where I'd be able to squeeze in adequate study time.

Here's hoping they take all 63 of us like you were told! :)

Thats' pretty cool about the non-nursing BS thing, too bad I have a BA. =) I've heard BADNAP is a pretty good program (from a BADNAP student last wk) and they are very understanding when it comes to people with kids and scheduling clinical times etc.

I don't think the clinical times vary, only the location, so they can't work with you too much. Classes are 1-2 days per week, but most o the information will be online stuff you have to do at home the rest of the days. Don't expect too much free time, and don't expect all A's. Your gpa will suffer with this program. But, overall, it goes by quickly and everyone is nice. Good luck!

WHoo hoo! Got my acceptance letter today! Class starts on June 6!!

Wow, congrats! Do you mind if I ask where in OK you live and what your GPA was? I didn't think we would be hearing back this quickly, but now I'm really hoping to get that acceptance letter in the mail tomorrow. I'm in Stillwater, so it may take longer for me.

I live in Moore, and I had a 3.8 gpa. Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for letting me know!
