BADNAP summer 2012

Anyone else applying to BADNAP summer 2012 program?

Featured Replies

I'm applying to the BADNAP and OU's Accelerated Program. I also applied to the traditional BSN at OU and selected the OCCC Collaborative as my top choice if neither of the accelerated programs accepted me. Interestingly enough I just received a letter from OUHSC stating that they're NOT taking applications for the 2012 OCCC-OU Collaborative Program. I don't know if this means this program will no longer exist or if the applications will only be accepted through OCCC. Have you heard anything regarding this?

Anyway, back to the BADNAP. I think I saw your post regarding the applications for 2012, and I'm assuming they will update the application by November 1 since there is an informational meeting that night regarding the program. Do you know how the preference points are determined for the BADNAP?

I called today and the applications should be up by tomorrow. I went to the 1st info session a couple of wwks ago... They rank people according to retention GPA and teas scores.

I haven't heard anything about the occc-ou collaborative program

Thanks. Did they mention how many applicants they had last year?

No but I think they said they expect fewer applicants this yr due to adding the teas test as a prereq.

I've applied to the OCCC BADNAP program. I've already taken the TEAS exam and submitted everything. I thought everyone might like to know that the adviser told me that everyone with a 2.9 GPA and above was accepted last year. After orientation she said 3 people dropped out and the GPA acceptance went down to a 2.85. She also said, based off of the people she's seen, she expects the GPA acceptance to go up to a 3.1. I have a 3.37 GPA so hopefully this is true! I am very anxious to hear back, which from what I hear will be mid-March time frame.

Also, she did say they expect less applicants this year because of the TEAS, which makes sense. After taking it, I will say that if you don't study for it you won't pass it. The science portion alone is rough, but a lot of the material you'll need to refresh since its stuff that I haven't used since High School or intro math courses in college.

I've applied just waiting to hopefully get that certified letter!

The wait is already killing me!! I can't wait to find out...

I applied too. Does anyone know the time frame for a response?

Does anyone know the final count of applications submitted? When I submitted my application on Monday, the 23rd of January, there were 21 applications. And according to the health care advisor, 19 of those applications were fully entered into the system. And if any more applications were submitted, they were most likely entered into the system relatively quickly. So if all goes well, we'll most likely know by the end of February/beginning of March regarding our acceptance/denial.

Is anyone applying to OU? I also submitted an application for their accelerated program. If all goes the way I think it will, I'll most likely get an acceptance to both schools. (this is based on previously admitted students stats--however, if a large group of 4.0's apply, then my hat's off to them, and they can gladly take my spot :-) Reason I'm asking is because I'm torn between the two programs; I'm not from this area so all I hear is speculation regarding the graduates. Any advice? Money is not an issue, and I do want to get my bachelors because I'd like to eventually get my masters.

CC10479,

If you eventually want to get your masters than I would say go ahead for the bsn. When it comes down to differences within the programs I'd say it's more based on the cost and length of each program. (I am from this area and know a lot of nurses.) I hope this helps some! Good luck!

I've heard that if you have a non-nursing BS degree, you can get an associate's degree in nursing and go straight to a Master's in nursing. Check with the OU adviser on this. What appeals to me about OCCC is that it seems to be geared towards people who are either commuting or have other obligations. You'll only have all day class 1-2 times a week then 2 12 hour clinical on the weekend. I've applied to both OU and OCCC as well, but I really think my best hope is with OCCC (knock on wood). My GPA is decent, but I don't think it is OU caliber based off of previous admission stats.

I eventually want to get my BSN as well, but I will really take either OU or OCCC at this point. The wait on both programs is killing me. If only 23 applications were taken by the 23rd, that is really good news I think. I wonder how many total applied. They accept 60....man I really hope we hear back soon (with good news of course).
