Is anyone here considering the DEMS or direct-entry master's program at UT? Or, has anyone applied to or graduated from this program?

I am interested in it, but there hasn't been much discussion on these forums about it. I would like to hear some personal accounts of what the program was/is like.

Thanks in advance!

Wendy,

Apparently they've changed the name of the program, which I graduated from in 07. At that time it was the GEMINI program.

I'm not sure specifically what you're asking, but here goes.

When I was in it, we went to school pretty much year round for 2 years. It was pretty intense as we were trying to learn all the nursy stuff and being grad students (taking research classes, thesis projects, etc). There were 22 (I think) in my class and we all came from various backgrounds. Some were married and some had kids. Since graduation many of my classmates have been very successful in their careers and some have gone on to study advanced practice.

Let me know what else you'd like to know and I can try to be more descriptive.

Thanks so much, Sarah, for your reply!

Unfortunately, there hasn't been much discussion about the UT master's program formerly called "Gemini."

Anyway, in hindsight, would you do the program again? Did it make a difference in your starting salary or position level? Did you have to wait the entire two years before taking the NCLEX or do students obtain licensure before the conferral of the degree? Was the expense worth it?

Any other information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
