OSU Nurse Internship Program

I will be finishing my ADN next month. I am interested in the nurse internship program at OSU. Anyone gone through that program or have any experiences related to that program?

I had applied with them and I had a horrendous time getting them to call me back, it took them about a month to call me back (even after I had called them checking on my application), when they called me back they couldn't schedule my interview for another month, and by the time they had finally gotten back with me the program that I wanted was full. Mount Carmel has a similar internship I believe as well as Riverside/doctors/grant (ohio health). Make sure you look at all your options.

Thanks for your info. I have a list of about 20 different internships that I am looking into. I can go anywhere so I am looking for anything that will be a good fit for me and my career goals.

I would second the looking into other area hospitals. I know OSU's nursing students typically don't even go to OSU med center for their clinicals

OSU students do have clinical at the medical center routinely. I am a staff nurse at OSU and was a NP student at the college and have precepted many, many students.

The problem with OSU is that it is very large, so you have to be persistent, but Grant and Riverside are the same way. I have also worked for that health system and getting a response from HR in both systems really takes persistence.

The really good thing about OSu is that you are going to see very sick patients with some really unique conditions. I worked in a step-down and on a med-surg unit at OSU and had good experiences. It will depend on the RN you are working with, but those that precepted were generally very good. e-mail me for specific names to request if you go this route.

I really, really like teaching hospitals for new grads. I have worked at a few and am a graduate of the University of Kentucky (which, by the way is a tremendous hospital-they REALLY take care of new nurses). The environment is just more academic.

It might just be my track that doesn't go to OSU's med center much. Makes sense, because now Riverside's NICU is operated by Children's, so they would want to stay with Children's as much as they could. (I'm NNP if you couldn't tell :) )
