New Grad jobs around Columbus, Ohio

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hello everyone!

I graduated with a BSN from MN and need to move to Columbus and I heard it's tough to get a new grad job in Ohio. I was wondering if you guys could tell me the best hospitals for me to apply in Columbus and any cities around Columbus that will hire new graduate nurses. I'm willing to commute a little farther out if I have to! I have applied to the new grad program at Mt. Carmel and have applied to a couple open positions in Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. Does Fairfield accept many new grad nurses? I looked into OSUMC and saw that they have a new graduate residency program but I couldn't find an application for it. Are they still accepting new graduate nurses?

I'm just really scared because I had a summer student nurse internship in MN and I can get a new grad job easier in MN but I need to move to Ohio. Thanks in advance for the help!

I too would like to move to Columbus (currently living in Cleveland). I did see the OSU new residency program app on their site at one time but recently I haven't seen anything. My guess is they put it up every few months. Why do you need to move to Ohio? It might be better for you to get a job in MN to get experience and then apply to jobs in Columbus.

I called and emailed HR for OSUMC and one said the application will open in spring...which wouldn't do any good. However, when I called HR they said it would be posted again sometime in October. I'm not really sure which one is accurate. What other places have you been applying to around the Columbus area?

I haven't applied anywhere yet. I actually start an accelerated BSN program this coming January so I still have plenty of time. But in addition to the hospitals up here in Cleveland I will apply to OSU, OhioHealth and Mt Carmel.

I applied in October 2012 for the Residency. It remained open through May 2013. It covered December and May grads.
