Higher Nurse demands for Ohio

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

I was reading on a site on the best jobs and areas for jobs in the next five years recently, of course nursing is listed near the top, but I was surprised to see that Ohio was listed as one of the top five areas that need nurses. I was not surprised to see Ca, Az, Nv listed but Ohio??? Anyone have any thoughts on this?:nurse:

This is just a guess... Here in the Cleveland area there are a couple of new hospitals being built (like we don't have enough already...oh yea we closed a bunch of the inner city hospitals in the past and now building new ones in the burbs where the money is). So between the nursing shortage and new hospitals needing staff the job openings will be increasing.

There is not a shortage of Registered Nurses in Ohio. There is a shortage of nurses willing to work in hospitals with unsafe staffing and poor working conditions.

Hospital restructuring and downsizing has resulted in dangerously low RN staffing levels. Unsafe staffing not only puts patients at increased risk for error, injury and death, it is the driving force of RNs away from bedside nursing.
