HELP! New grad needs job in COLUMBUS, OH!

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hey there guys!!

So I passed my nclex this pass Jan. (yay!) and I will be moving to Ohio sometime in March. I already have my temp permit to start working in ohio. I have my ADN and will hopefully be starting my BSN in the Fall of this year. I've been trying to look for a job in the Columbus area of Ohio or the outskirts (anything really). Got a call from OSU hospital stating need that BSN, which I understand A LOT of the hospitals are turning magnet status, same thing goes for the hospitals here in Florida.

I was hoping if anyone could help me out possibly knowing of any place that is hiring new grads that will take an ADN? I've applied to a few of the main hospitals and haven't had much luck :( I'll take ANYTHING, Nursing homes.. whatever it may be! HELP!

Thanks everyone!

The issue is that there are quite a few universities in Ohio that pump out nurses each semester. I do know that one of the OSU hospitals will hire adn but require them to start in a program ASAP. I forget which one (lots of news articles about that director of nursing). Your best bet is to keep in applying and to state your intention of getting a BSN.

Good luck! I've been looking since last May. The job situation sucks in Ohio right now. I had previous LPN experience, but apparently it doesn't count for anything in the RN world.

You might try Nationwide Children's if you are into peds. There are also several home health agencies and plenty of nursing homes. Check career sites like indeed, careerbuilder,

and monster. If you're willing to pay, there's a site called CareerShift, which I use often and have gotten most of my leads from. Unfortunately, most places want experience. You might also check with some hospitals to see if they offer nurse residency programs for new grads.

Also, if possible I'd consider other areas of Ohio. I live in Ohio and just switched from part-time to full-time.
