Cincinnati State Technical College-- Has anyone ever attended?

U.S.A. Ohio

Has anyone graduated from their nursing program? I am finding none of the advisors know what the heck they're talking about.

They now took over Scarlet Oaks/Great Oaks LPN program. I was going to finish there and I have all of these pre-reqs to do, and have to wait until they're completed to even enroll into the LPN program, which I find out probably won't be until Novemeber of next year, and it will Late summer or 2011 when I graduate!

I was at Bohecker College and only have two terms to go until I have my LPN. I'm just nervous because I hear they're losing accrediation. Apparently I can still sit for my NCLEX and other LPN-RN programs will still recognize my license, just not classes. I'm so confused on which route to go. I definitely will NOT do the bridge at Bohecker because I want to get my BSN and will not be able to if they lose accrediation.

Anyone have any experience with C-State, or any advice in general lol:specs:

Hey I know this thread is a bit old but is there anyone attending Cincinnati state RN program now? New grads? Or pre_nursing students?

I was going to, got all the info, but decided on another program. Didn't like I had to stay enrolled once I finished pre reqs on my dime when they were the ones with the waiting list.

LET ME WARN YOU ABOUT CINCINNATI STATE! I don't want to clog this up with my long story so I'll keep it short. Cincinnati State has a 25% graduation rate (it varies a bit year to year, but that's the average). 75% of students drop out. On time graduation is even lower at about 15%. In Sonography General Imaging you have 0% of men graduating and less than 10% men in the other medical programs. Surgical tech is the least sexist/corrupt one of all, but it's not that good of a degree, but even surgical tech is in on the games. Nursing and Sonography are really corrupt.

I went to that school for two years and should have graduated. They encourage people to take all kinds of classes and sign up for their programs etc. Then when you need to do the clinical they will not let you finish your degree. I saw the same lady go into a room full of people (hundreds) and ask every one of them to come to Cincinnati state and sign up for sonography, then half an hour later tell me the program clinicals are full.

The problem here is they will tell you there is a waiting list. I got my name on that list. Guess what happened in the fall? The teacher said "what list? We don't have a list" They will lie to you until the cows come home. Here's how people get into the clinicals- they get chosen by the program head. They play a game of "favorites" and they BS everybody else. There are also a lot of sexists so a lot of them are highly biased against men, especially white men. They are more than happy to take all your money but when it comes time for you to take your final classes and get your degree there may be a problem. And any time you complain about something they will just lie to you some more to get you to shut up. This school does not care about their students, they just care about money along with whatever racism or sexism agenda they have floating around for that week. 75% and 80% drop out rates are not normal, and most of those are coming from the medical field at that school which is highly corrupt.

Hey Raymond, I kind of feel the same way as I am a prenursing student at CincyState. Where are you now with your schooling? Attended another college? How did things end at CincyState?

I could never take my clinicals because they won't let me take them. So I got my associate of arts degree at a florida college and was working on a bachelor but my student loans are maxed out. I'm currently saving money to finish that degree. Then when you go to a different college even though they accepted the credits from C-state you end up re-taking a lot of classes due to different requirements.

Cincy State is probably the cheapest option in this area if you want your RN. That being said, you have to jump through some hoops for it. Other schools have less hoops but they are way more expensive. It just takes planning. And um.....racism and sexism? I'm a minority, several of the instructors are as well.....so I have no idea what you're talking about. It sounds like you have sour grapes and you're just looking for things to complain about. I have no regrets about getting my first degree here.

The racism seems directed at white people and the sexism against men. It's not in all programs or classes. On top of it there are other unprofessional practices and lies told at the school. If you are a minority female you probably will have no problem going through nursing or any other medical programs. A white male will be booted out. Besides that also if you are a "favorite" someone the instructor likes you get no problems if she doesn't like you, then problems. And they determine whether they like someone or not within the first three seconds of looking at them. It's totally unprofessional. Just because you yourself was not discriminated against does not mean it doesn't happen to others. As well my complaints are public record such as Sonography General Imaging having zero men graduate from it every year because they aren't allowed into the clinicals. 74% of students dropping out of the school without completing their degree is also public record. 15% on time graduation and 26% overall graduation.

Some of the instructors who spouted that they hate white people, hate men and hate white men were white females as well.

As well it's not cheap if it takes 4 years to get a 2 year degree or you have to drop out and go to a different school and retake many of your classes. I thought the tuition was cheap as well and it wound up costing me more in the long run. When I went they told me that over 80 people were vying for 12 "clinical" slots. I don't think that was true, but according to them it's impossible to get into the clinical even though most of my classmates got in no problem (even if they had lower grades than myself). I also had a math instructor that couldn't speak English and kept doing the math problems wrong and wouldn't answer questions. This was a college algebra class. Despite complaints from many students, they didn't fire her. I don't know where she's at now. The impression I got was the school doesn't care about it's students and not ashamed to have 85% not complete their degree on time. I can't say what the best option would be because it's different for everybody, but buyer beware of Cinci State.

Um...okay. Good luck with everything!

Hello!

I have been working as a nurse aide (STNA) for the last 3 years and I think it's time for me to take the plunge to go to nursing school. I have been looking at the Cincinnati State LPN program for a while now. Can anyone give me up to date info on the program? Is there a waiting list? How long with the LPN program take to complete? Any other info would be great. Thanks!
