Hi All!

I'm new to this board. Occupational health is something I really would be interested in. But I'm still trying to figure out what I wanna be when I graw up.

A little background: RN x 15 yrs (ER,med/surge,psych/chem dependency/detox, home care, UR/QM,cse management)

Also, I'm licensed acupuncturist, and was in private practice before I ventured out to med school a coupple of yrs ago. For personal reasons (mostly health, and financial reality) I withdrew (took LOA) from med school (but still have my spot). I'm kind of kidding myself that I'll go back, because ideally, that's what I'd like to do, but the reality of life sugguests otherwise.

I wanted to be in the field of peventetive/anti-aging/complimentary medicine. (I hate to use the term "alternative: because it's not really an alternative to anything, but rather a complex system of medicine of its own)

But here's a question: Do you guys think I could somehow utilize both professions (RN and L.Ac) in the field of occupational health? So far the most frustrating thing for me was to blend them together.

Thanks for your responses

I would think that you would have to market yourself as having "modern scientic knowledge" as an RN blended with the time tested Eastern ways. And be able to show how that could benefit a company.

I work in occupational health in a private family practice clinic. I could see where accupuncture could be useful in some of the injuries and chronic pain that some of the workers have due to injuries on the job.
