post leep pap tests

Specialties Ob/Gyn

i've been trying to do some internet research on pap test results following leep procedures.... i'm not really finding much of anything so i am wondering:

what has been your experience in the results for post-leep paps? do you often see some mild dysplasia after the first 6 months? does this dysplasia often take care of itself? how often have your patients had to have a second leep?

thanks in advance!

If you are looking for medical advice for yourself, you need to call your GYN. Good Luck.

not looking for advice, i don't want someone to diagnose what is going to happen to me (i've talked to my gyn and her nurse extensively, who i completely trust with my care), not looking for someone to tell me what to do - just curious as to what other people have seen in practice....

i would like to go into ob/gyn so i find it interesting.

My daughter had an abnormal pap after the birth of her first child and had 2-3 leep procedures done during the next year. Her paps kept coming back abnormal. Her gyn actually told her to get pregnant, he said sometimes pushing the baby out will also push away the abnormal cells. So after the birth of her 2nd child, C-section i might add with no pushing, her pap was finally normal.

Hope this helps.

I had the LEEP procedure almost two years ago and had to go for check-ups starting at three months, then six, then one year. All of my paps have come back normal since I had the procedure and I am now back to regular yearly exams.

OTOH, I did have a friend who had to have the procedure done twice before her paps started to come back normal.
