I need advice from WHNPs. Where did you go to school? Did you like the program? Why or why not? How can I find the school that would best suit me? Do you know of any good programs?

I went to UCSF in San Francisco and LOVED the program. I don't think they have a WHNP program anymore, but changed to a FNP program. I have to admit I have found it hard to find positions as a WHNP and wish I had education in primary care because I found women come to you looking to be treated for other issues, not just women's health issues. Hope this helps!

@queen2u: I am also debating back and forth between fnp and whnp....most ppl seem to say that fnp is the way to go and then specialize in women's health so in case that perfect job never comes up you don't have to go back to school for a post-masters and you'll have more options.

What's your background in? I'm looking and asking around how to get specialized in women's health as an FNP, and what are some good ways to do that so an FNP can pretty much do what a WHNP would do in office (i'm primarily interested in OB care and adolescent health, and infertility, and minor gyn related issues). I am hoping in my NP program I can accumulate more elective hours in ob/gyn settings.
