jacuzzi use during labor

Does anyone out there use jacuzzis for pain management during labor? If so, what is your hospitals policies reguarding its use? We will be moving into a new facility in late summer equiped with jacuzzis and no one on staff has worked in a facility that has used them before. We are in the process of writing policies at this time and would appreciate any input you all could give.

My hospital ( and most of our OB's) loves them and so do I. ROM is not a reason to keep women out of the tub. We don't use them as much as I would like though because getting patients to want to try the tub can be a bit of a challenge when they are in pain but once they are in most love it. We allow patients to labour up to 10 cm in the tub but not deliver in it as we have no policy yet.

Now me personally I didn't like the tub because I was too short and our tubs were badly designed and hard to get into but I loved the shower and can't say enough good things about labouring in water.

We have not used our jacuzzi's for delivery. I would be afraid of what infection prevention's response would be if I asked them about the cleaning process of the tubs. We are going to be exploring disposible tubs in the near future.

Our Corometrics monitors have telemetry for use in the tubs. The monitors specifically say not to use plugged in. I can't remember what else you asked, but I couldn't figure out how to reply....sorry.
