What is "pseudodecidual hyperplasia" ?

Is it precancerous?

hello SeekingAnswers, I'm sure someone will come along shortly to give you a more definite answer to your question. On internet search these are the definitions I've gathered:

Pseudodecidual hyperplasia

PSEUDO -- False or counterfeit; fake.

DECIDUA -- Decidua is the term for the uterine lining (endometrium) during a pregnancy. It is formed under the influence of progesterone and serves to support and interact with the gestation. The decidua represents the maternal portion of the placenta.

HYPERPLASIA -- An abnormal increase in the number of cells in an organ or a tissue with consequent enlargement.

I hope you'll get a more satisfactory answer about the disease itself and if it is cancerous or not very soon....

Hi,

Tha't pretty much what I got too.

I am assuming that the endometrium is thickening as if there were a pregnancy, but there is no pregnancy?

What I can't find is whether the cells are atypical in this condition or if there is just not enough information given to know if this is precancerous or not.

Thank you for your help

hyperplasia does not necessarily mean cancer or even precancer. It may just be an abnormal buildup of cells without malignancy or abnormality of the cells.
