I have asked 3 instructors, one says one thing, the other something else and my actual teacher has yet to respond.

I woman gave birth to twins at 40wks.

Gravida 1 para 1; 1 pregnancy 1 birth right?

G1p2 one pregnancy but two births of two living children.

Per the AWHONN definition, para only counts the number of pregnancies. So, when you use the full GTPAL system, it is G1 T1 P0 A0 L2. If it were a 28-week quad delivery and all 4 babies are still alive, it would be G1 T0 P1 A0 L4. Anything under 20 weeks counts as an abortion (spontaneous or elective), and from 20-37 weeks, it will fall under 'preterm', regardless of how many babies OR the outcome of the pregnancy.

Where it gets confusing is that some folks only do G/P rather than GTPAL for the sake of brevity.
