im a student nurse, so sorry if this is a dumb question, but is a 60 lbs weight gain throughout pregnancy with twins too much? pt is 5'2" with pre-preg wt at 103. right before delivery she weighed 164. any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks..

I don't think this is excessive wt gain. She is very small to begin with and twins is a lot to carry. I was 105 lbs when I got pregnant and was 155 at delivery, my midwife was not concerned because of my pre baby wt. I was a bit underweight to begin with. Now if she started out at lets say 180 and gained 60 lbs that would be a lot.

thank you very much for your reply!

I don't know about with twins, but I gained about 60# with my first and about 45# with my second. My CNM was not concerned as I exercised regularly and ate healthy. I also lost the weight quickly. I think some people (like me!) naturally put on the amount of weight their body needs... and then there's the bean and rice burritos from Taco Bell that I am sure do not help.
