15 weeks with back pain????

Specialties Ob/Gyn

I need your advice, PLEASE. I have been noticing that my back has been hurting for a few days. Today it has gotten worse and this evening I am not comfortable in any position. The pain is more a prolonged throb more than actual pain. The painis about 2 inches to the left of my spine and about an inch below the last ribs on the left. I am afraid I will not be able to sleep tonight. What do you think I should do? By the way I am a nursing student and have to sit at a desk most of the day; I though that was the cause of the problem but now know its something else. Could it be my kidney?

Please Help Me Out!!!!!

Without laying my hands on you and your chart, I honestly can't tell you a thing. Please call your doc ASAP.

Well, It could be LOTS of things.......are you prone to UTI's or kidney infections? At 15 weeks, w/such symptoms, I would be requesting a CCUA order from the dr .......but like Shay said, we cannot exactly diagnose your problem here. Go to ER and do it NOW!;)

PLEASE CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! The pain you describe could be anything from muscle strain to a UTI to an ovarial cyst to pre-term labor. I began contracting at 16 weeks with my last baby. My only symptom was mild cramping. With immediate attention and very careful monitoring I carried her to 36 weeks. Please do not take any chances! Let us know how you are doing.

I hope you called your Ob and got seen. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a kidney stone either. Please, let us know what you find out.
