Nursing Home or NHS Hospital?

World UK

Published

Hi! ☺ I am a nurse here in the Philippines and I've been working for more than 3 years now. I'm planning to work in UK and I already passed my OET and currently reviewing for CBT. Also done with my interviews which offers job vacancy in NHS hospital. But there were some posts that I've read in a facebook group that says working in a nursing home is better than NHS considering the salary, working hours and chance to bring your family with you after some time.

I hope some of you guys could help me which to choose. I think it would be better to hear facts and opinions from those who have been working in the UK.

God bless everyone!

Salary will be either same or a little lower in nursing homes. I would say better to start in the NHS and gain experience and support as Nursing homes tend to have less support

Hi! Thank you for answering my post. :) What do you mean there's less support at nursing homes?

A lot of the time if not all of the time you are the only trained nurse working

I'm a bit late here, but maybe someone else might see this as well. Nursing homes will offer you ZERO support with your OSCE. You need a huge amount of support to pass it. Go to a trust that has a good record on OSCE (Like ours :p), get your OSCE passed THEN think about this question. I would not recommend going to a nursing home unless you want to spend a lot of money to get through your OSCE.
