New city, new job.

Hello

I am a newly qualified nurse, 3 weeks ago and also new to this forum.

Looking for any guidance and advice please.

I trained in Scotland but have decided to move down to England for a number of reasons.

I have looked around various hospitals and cities and really enjoyed Bristol as a city to live in and also the hospitals seemed good.

Has anyone on here moved to a new trust/ city as a NQ nurse, if so how did you find the transition?

Does anyone have any past experience of working in Bristol royal infirmary or Southmead hospital??

How did you decide on which speciality for your first post?

I've previously had 2 placements in urology but I am wondering would it be best to start my first post in a area that has a range of conditions?

Thanks for reading.

Specializes in Advanced Practice, surgery.

I moved after I qualified and it was a great experience although lonely until I'd settled and made some friends.

Bristol is a lovely city to work and live and being a from a rural town I found it far more tolerable than some of the bigger cities. I struggled in London and Manchester because of the size of the cities and number of people, to be honest ( and I'm biased) some of the friendliest places I have lived and worked are in Wales. I've returned home now and wouldn't leave again.
