Pediatric Assessment Checklist?

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

This week I am beginning my pediatric rotation, which I am very excited for as I have been looking forward to this semester for a long time. However, I am a little lost as to what I need to concentrate on for pediatric assessment. I have gone through my med-surg rotations already but obviously the assessments I did on adults will differ at points for children. Do any pediatric nurses have a checklist of the things they assess for a shift assessment? Obviously a full head to toe is not necessary, as this takes about an hour to do, but I would like to know the daily things and specifics I should be looking for. Have searched online and cannot find a checklist or guidelines of any sort. Please, help me rifle through all of this!! :banghead: Thank you!

there are several pediatric assessment forms and checklists on the health assessment resources, techniques, and forms sticky thread of this forum (https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/health-assessment-resources-145091.html).
