kind of job for future nursing student

Nursing Students Student Assist

Hello

I will be attending nursing school in ST. Louis, MO this fall and i am currently looking for jobs in healthfield. I have one B.S. in Community Health and also have work experience in health field and clerical field. Unfortunately I have a gap in my work experience that is turning potential employers off. I don't even get called for interviews despite my skills and education. I had 3 jobs in healthcare that didn't work out, i resigned but there was one job where the trainer treated me badly. I love the field of nursing and I was just wondering what one would advise regarding employers to look at resume despite gap in employment. I am a very motivated and intelligent individual.

Thank you.

How about a job as a hospital unit secretary? It's a good way to get experience reading charts and adding orders, which you'll have to know how to do as a nurse. You've said you have clerical experience, so you probably can get a job w/o too much more experience. Lots of hospitals post their open positions right on their websites, and you can apply over the web. After you apply be assertive with calling the recruiter to make sure they know you're serious.

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.
