Hi!!! I was just wondering if anybody know much about the Pros and Cons of Sterile Vagnial Exams and where I can go to find good information. I am doing a paper on this topic and would like to give good information. Can somebody please help ASAP!!!

hi, wyattkent! you're a guy, right? i'm buzzing around putting together a bunch of links on lady partsl exams for you when i came back to your post and noticed that you were looking to write about the pros and cons on this. well, first of all, the stuff i've got for you (it's all from medical school websites on performing physical exams) says that the lady partsl exam is not a sterile procedure. however, it would be very easy to turn it into a sterile procedure by using sterile equipment and putting on sterile gloves. that "area" is not considered a sterile area. also, an exam under anesthesia is also sometimes done and would be performed as a sterile procedure since it is done in the or. again, it means the equipment used would be sterile.

now, from a female point of view, i don't think any of us particularly like having them done. really, they are not the same as what you do with the one you love. one of the ladies i worked with used to refer to her yearly pap and exam as her yearly rape. some of the gyns that do this are just rough and they are very uncomfortable. i've only had one md, a surgical gyn specialist, in all my years of exams who never hurt me during an exam if that tells you anything.

anyway, here are the links on the actual procedure. read one or two and watch one of the videos and see what you think about the whole thing. i think that the information you are looking for is probably going to be mostly personal viewpoints, however.
