I have 2 problems and I have solved both of them(did not show work here). I would appreciate if you tell me if I'm right or wrong. A couple of students in the class said I am totally off track and I am confused. Thanks for the help.

1. The physician ordered meperidine 1.5mg/kg PO every 4hrs for pain for a child status post appendectomy. The child weighs 22 pounds. Pharmacist dispensed a meperidine syrup. The label reads: 50mg per 5mL. There is 500mLs in the bottle. Calulate how many mLs you will administer for each dose and daily.

Here is my answer: The child weighs 10kg

Needs 15mg for 4 hrs.

That is 1.5mL for 4hrs

and 9mL daily

2. Ordered furosemide 2mg/Kg PO every 8hrs for a child with congestive heart failure. The child weighs 10Kg. Dispensed an oral solution of furosemide which indicates on the label: each mL contains furosemide 10mg. Container holds 120mLs. Calcul. the mLs of medication to be given with each dose and everyday.

Here is my answer: 20mg for 8hrs

which is 2mL for 8hrs

and 6mL per day.
