Childhood immunizations

  1. Does anyone have an easy way to remember when childhood immunizations are given and contraindications to getting an injection? Meds Pub says you should not get a rectal exam if you are immunocompromized!!!!

offhand (there may be more) - contraindications to receiving an immunization include allergies to eggs, chicken, thimerisol (another whole subject matter for a thread), previous serious reaction to vaccination, past history of guillam-barre syndrome, certain immunocompromised conditions

    helpful links:

recommended childhood and adolescent immunization schedule 2006

administering vaccines: dose, route, site, and needle size

epidemiology and prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases - the "pink book" 9th edition from the cdc. thorough, authoritative resource on vaccinations and vaccination-related topics.

    pocket-size immunization schedules

    immunization action coalition

    national immunization program

    hope this helps!

I think a yeast allergy is a contradiction as well? As well as certain antibiotics (I can't think of the name, so you might want to look that one up, some of the vaccine have trace amounts of antibiotics in them some may be allergic too).
