Care Plan Question

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hey, everyone. Just started LPN clinicals and I'm trying to fill out my care plan. There's a page with the heading: Identifying Data which asks for basic patient history info - Social History (religion, education, marital status, etc), Health History (hospitalizations, surgeries, injuries, etc), chief complaint, income/insurance. Then, at the very bottom, it asks for Developmental History. Here's what it looks like:

Developmental History:

(Supply data to substantiate)

Life span development:

normal findings for age group

client assessment

describe areas of incongruity

Psychosocial data:

identify Erikson's stage and Havinghurst's tasks for that stage

I can figure out the psychosocial data without problem, I'm just not sure what info it wants for the life span development. My client is in middle adulthood and all the info I can find on life span development pertains to children. I've combed through my psych nursing book as well as my foundations/fundamentals book.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

according to my fundamentals book, Erickson's theory on psychosocial aspects on aging are defined as ego integrity (a state of being complete) for an aging adult and includes the following areas to assess:

Life Review: time for reminiscence and being confident on past accomplishments

Family Relationships

Social Activity

Living Arrangements

Health Promotion Behaviors

I could not find anything on Havinghust's tasks for this stage and frankly have never heard of him.

HTH!
