Is there any way anyone can point me towards a "medical to english" dictionary of any sort? I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around how this works in layman's terms. I just started Pharmacology and have found I can remember things much better if I understand why they work rather than just memorizing and this is the only one that baffles me. I understand ACE inhibitors, statins, niacin, beta blockers, ARBs, ect (we're doing bp and cholesterol meds among other things) I just cannot figure this one out. I searched the net but it was the same 'greek' that I am finding in my textbook (not for the rest, just for this one)
So anyone know how I can find a source to break it down for me?
Thanks!

If you look at the sticky threads on this forum you will find a thread that has links for medical dictionaries on it that includes a medical to english one.
thank you.
Sometimes I can read the same thing 50 times and still not understand what I'm reading.
when these concepts are so complex and difficult to grasp it helps to see how other authors have explained them. here are two online pharmacy websites that you can also use to get other views on the subject of pharmacology:
i would also try looking in a library for an older, different authored textbook of pharmacology to use as a supplemental text for study. my nursing drug reference book (mosby's) also has some explanations of the different drug classifications in the very front of it. try seeing what a search of the term on the internet brings back for you. i would also look terms up in a medical dictionary. if you have a copy of taber's cyclopedic medical dictionary you are going to find that it has loads of information and drawings in it that explain a lot of things in a nutshell.
