Littman Classic II?

I have a Littman classic II (don't like it!) and it fits wonky in my ears- it's tilted! Does anyone else have this problem? I have to hold where the ear pieces connect to force it straight. With my new position (haven't formally declared it here, waiting for backgrounds and official offer!) I'd like to get a littman cardiology, but I'm afraid that (a) my ears are crooked and that's the problem or (b) littmans are just crooked.

Anyone else have this issue? Is it just me? Are my ears weird? Is it because the Classic II is "lower" quality littman?

Are there other comparable stethoscopes? I'd like to find a supply store that has the cardiology one so I can see how it fits in my ears, but I am having a difficult time finding a place that sells such expensive gear. Anyone live in L.A. area that can give me some store ideas?

Anyone have the Littman Cardiology STC? How do you like it?

They are supposed to be tilted. Put them in your ears with them pointing the same way your nose points. All Littmans are like that

They're supposed to be pointed toward your nose. That ensures that the sound coming out of them gets directed right into your ear canal so you can hear. It's possible that you're putting the ear pieces into your ears backwards and then having to struggle to keep the ear pieces aligned with your ear canals.

Nope! It's pointed toward my nose! I've flippd em several times to make sure, taken them out, looked at the direction and put them back even! Used em for the last two years because I had no choice...I really think its my ears that are messed up! My ear plugs I wear for shooting are even wonky! One points down the other straight in! Can I get custom ear pieces made?

Have you tried hard earpieces? If I put the squishy/more comfortable ear pieces on then I can't hear anything. They close up in my ear. I have yo use the hard ear pieces to hear.

If your ear canals are a bit wonky from what's the usual anatomy, then yeah, try those hard earpieces. They may help! The soft ones might just be closing up on you because of your specific anatomy... and if the really cheap plastic earpieces on the really cheap stethoscopes work well for you, I would think that the hard earpieces that you can get for the Littman's should work.

Hope you find something that works, because the Classic II is a pretty decent stethoscope.

Also try the small as opposed to regular sized ear pieces. Littman has both small and regular sizes and hard and soft. Once I tried the small I was fine. The larger weren't going into my ears.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure I tossed the extra ear pieces that came with the scope, but I'll stop at a medical supply store and see if they have them. UGH! I know it's a good scope, cause when I hold it in my ears to listen, it's great, however in a busy situation I'm not sure I'll have time to use two hands to do one task like that. Even in L&D it was a pain to try and listen while trying to palpate the umbilical cord to match the heartbeat over the cries.

I have a Littman II Classic and I love it :) I have had no problems.
