Who Wants To Share Exp- LPN to RN with EC

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Just enrolled at EC & trying to gather information about what to do first, how many weeks in-between exams taking & if you study from sauders or used the study guide 101 ect..... However, i am getting overwhelmed with my searching. So I'm asking if anyone who wants to share their journey with me from start to finish. I'm a new grad with my lpn so alot of information is still fresh & I want to just jump into it.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.
I would caution you- Don't want to rain on your parade, but EC is a program where you NEED clinical hospital experience. Do you live in a state where they still allow LPNs to work in one? If so, I would recommend working there to gain experience- You pick up a lot of skills you will need to pass the NCLEX and practice as a nurse. Nursing homes and MD offices are not really great for learning all of the skills you will need (IVs, NG tubes, chest tubes, ect.) Good luck!

I have to disagree with part of this. While clinical hospital experience is certainly valuable, we've had a lot of members here who passed the CPNE and NCLEX without it, and who are successful nurses. Remember, not everyone starts this program as an LPN. I didn't; I was (and still am) a paramedic. So while it would be great to have that experience, it's not necessarily a dealbreaker. But I do think it's important for a person to truly assess their abilities before doing this program, because it certainly isn't for everyone!
