How was your experience? How hard is the subject compared to live class (did having it online make it harder). Who was your professor? How was the home lab?

I'm worried~~

Thanks!

Hi! I haven't taken the online chem class, but I have to take a second semester of it and am considering doing it online. Where did you find the information about the online lab? I've been hunting around for it and can't find it. I took my first semester of chem at ACC and recently moved out of state and have to take organic chem for the nursing program here. I was thinking since I have to pay out of state tuition up here, I may as well see if I can do one with an at home lab through CCCOnline so I don't have to worry about child care. Any help is appreciated and I hope someone can answer your question!

Heyy, Ive taken several online classes through CCConline and they are great!!! I love them. Ive taken Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Nutrition. Really though, the most you do is just write a lot. You do labs and write discussions and essays. Its not bad at all. Totally worth it. I loved Micro the best. I got all B's, so not bad! :-) good luck.

Tootsie- can you please give me a bit of info on ccconline. I live in Cananda and I want to take their online courses. The website says tuition is paid at the HOME colleges which are all in Colorado. So do I have to register as a student at one of the home colleges first? Do you know if their anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 are recognized by other colleges outside of Colorado? Is EVERYTHING online...including all exams/tests and labs? Also how long are the courses? Do they offer it in the summer? Thank you!

Hi Neir! I can answer your questions.

1. Yes you have to regrister with one of their home colleges. This is only to "hold" your college transcript and you pay the home college your tuition. When you request your transcript to be sent to other colleges, it will have your "home" college on it so it looks like you went to that college. It also doesnt say anything about being a web course either on their transcripts.

2. Yes their AP I and II courses are transferrable to other colleges. Ive transferred them into my local University and they've transferred in with no problem. Now it does depend on the college you want to transfer to, but like I said, Ive had no problem transferring them in. And I know some colleges are leary on the classes being online, but the transcript doesnt even say they are online LOL so no problem there.

3. Yes everything is online. Tests/Discussion threads/Labs are all online. The lab part is basically a 14-20 page written assignment.... they are LONG and detailed. You buy the labpaq and everything is included in the labpaq.

4. The courses can be taken during the "traditional" school year or during summer. Summer courses are intense. I took AP II and Microbiology during the summer. And, holy crap...its a lot of work. Its mostly tons of papers and typing and ugh. You just have to keep up with it. Check the website everything to double check you completed everything because it will make a difference. The discussions are I think 30 points each, and theres like 2 due each week. So it becomes a bit hectic. Now, during the "traditional" semester they offer TWO sessions to begin the course. One session begins the very first day of the semester, and then the 2nd session begins kind of mid-way through the semester. So the 2nd session is more "Accerlerated."

If you go to their website, and look under course schedules..you can see when they offer the course. Chemistry I believe is the one that they dont always offer every semester. Usually AP I and II are offered every semester. My home college was Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Honestly If I could, I would have taken all my general education courses there. They really are a great school and the CCCOnline is perfect for me because I have a 4 year old son, Im a single mom (22 years old) so its much better for my schedule. You just have to be motivated, because online classes are easy to fall back and forget to do something.

Good Luck. :-) if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thank you Tootsie! I now have a 4 month old and trying to apply to community colleges in california for RN school, but they want 5 year recent science pre reqs. This is my only option. Do you live in the state of Colorado? Or another state? Are the instructors helpful? Also, I looked into their website and they require a 10 minimum. I only want to take anat&physio 1 and micro over the summer session. That'll only be 7 credit units I believe. Then take anat&physio2 over the following fall session. Will they allow less then 10... You said you did just a&p I and micro in the summer.... So am I assuming it's ok then?

Neir I apologize I didnt see this message sooner!!!

Are you referring to 10 credits in order to receive financial aid for the classes? I didnt use any financial aid at CCConline because I was using my financial aid for my local university where I am in the nursing program here. But that sounds about right if you are using FA. The state requires you to be at least half time to receive any federal loans. Its going to be tough but you can do it. The instructors are helpful. Most of them dont even live in Colorado during the summer. I think every one of my professors were on vacation lol. I live in Pennsylvania though. Im actually taking another biology course this summer which starts on monday. are you taking any this summer?

Do you have to take any test at the home college or is everything done on-line at CCCOnline? And I live in Georgia, do you know what my home college would be?

Nope no tests are done at the college, they are 100% online, but keep in mind they are timed. They give you about 2 hours for each test, for about 70 questions. And those questions are hard, they make sure no one can look up every question answer lol. You can actually pick whatever home college you want. The home college is just a place they store your transcripts and the name of the college in that you took the classes at. My home college is colorado northwestern community college. But with any home college, the classes are still the same because they fall under the colorado community systems. Im taking Chemistry I and II this Fall now. I just finished up with the biology course along with 3 other classes, got a B in Bio and A's in the other, so its doable.

I'm gonna take chemistry and college algebra in the fall at ccconline. Is there anyone out there taking one of these classes or both. I would like to have a study buddy. Or if you have already taken one of these classes, I would like to chat with you about the course(s).

When you register is the lab included because I don't see the lab listed separately. And which chem did you take? The intro chem or general college chem?

This looks very interesting. I was able to find the tuition, but I wasn't able to find out equipment/ text costs.

For folks who have taken Chemistry, how much did your labpaq cost? How much was the textbook/ lab manual/ other printed materials?
