First new grad interview - help? (Cardio-Thoracic Unit)

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

So, I'm a new grad (RN-AAS) and, like a lot of other new grads, am having a really tough time finding a job! I am, on paper (and in real-life) a good candidate, except that I'm trying to get in a job at the hospital where I have worked for three years as a clerk - and they are NOT fans of ADNs! They recently got Magnet status, so... it's BSN city up in there. (I am taking my boards in under two weeks and then I am almost immediately beginning my BSN - I'm already accepted and YES that info is on my resume.)

Anyway, I FINALLY got called for an interview after months of applying and putting in over 65 applications. My interview is on a cardio-thoracic step-down unit tomorrow morning at 8am and it's one hour long, followed by an hour-long job shadow. Can anyone help me out with interview advice? They told me to wear scrubs but I'll make sure to be clean and well-groomed. I'm looking for common interview questions with solid genuine answers and maybe some advice for topics to brush up on specifically for a cardio-thoracic unit (chest tubes, LVADs, etc).

THANK YOU! PRAY FOR ME! I really really REALLY want this job! :)
