Groups Push for Relaxation of 'Meaningful Use' Standards

On Monday, a coalition of 51 health care groups (including the AMA and the American Organization of Nurse Executives) sent a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius calling for more time and greater flexibility to meet the criteria outlined in the proposed rule for the "meaningful use" of electronic health records. See the link for details of the other organization's that signed the letter.

So what do you think?

Will this letter delay or get the deadline/time line dates pushed back??

Hummmm?

I really think that HHS leadership and the current administration is going to have to rethink it's "all or none" strategy with meaningful use. Otherwise, it may have the unintended effect of causing a setback with full EHR implementation by a large number of providers.
