Epic training envirnment

by mondi

I was hired recently to build & maintain epic training environment for a facility. Does anyone here build training environments? I need ideas on how to go about signing in patients for the specialty clinic class , duplications and environment refresh. Thanks

One person dedicated just to build in Train??? Sweet gig. So are you also providing the training too?

I've built TRAIN and TEST environments before but with other vendor products. Mirror LIVE environment as closely as possible by utilizing similiar patient scenarios, patient types, Diagnosis, orders, work flows etc as you would see in the LIVE environment.
Exception would be patients' last names should be as far from something real as possible. With a patient name like Mickey Mouse, no one would ever mistake the patient or the order requ that (some how) prints out to a real printer for the real thing. Once I named all the TEST patients after Warner Brothers characters, another time I used Disney characters and another all last names were "ZzzTop" Users never mistook TEST for LIVE using such naming conventions.
Hope that helps.

Our hospital is making the switch from paper charting to Epic. We go "live" in November.

What do you think of the system?

Thanks for any feedback!

1) There is no perfect system
2) As systems go Epic is considered the "Cadillac" of HIS (health information systems)
Good Luck with your November Go Live
